Bottled by Bears Demo: A Cozy Idle Honey Farm

Bottled by Bears is a hand-drawn cozy idle honey farm: collect rare bees, bottle jars, help a bear family. Free demo 100% positive, out Nov 11.

Lowkey, the Bottled by Bears demo is the prettiest half hour of idle game I have played in a while. It is a cozy idle honey farm where you help a family of bears run a little beekeeping business: open bee packs, grow flower fields, bottle honey jars and sell them at your stand. Every frame is hand-drawn, the studio says so loud and clear, and the free demo has been on Steam since July 1, 2026. The full game launches November 11, 2026 on Windows and Mac. App ID 4390080.

The numbers are honestly perfect. As of about 19:00 BRT on October 23, the Steam page shows 100% of 82 demo reviews as positive, Very Positive, and all 12 reviews from the last 30 days are thumbs up too. The studio posted on X this week that the demo has passed 4,500 players.

What is Bottled by Bears?

The Steam page calls it a cozy idle management game where you run a little honey farm with the Pawford bear family. You open bee packs to collect bees of all kinds, grow a flowery field that blooms day by day, and bottle the sweetest honey jars to sell at your stand. The loop from the store page goes like this:

  • Open bee packs to discover new and rarer bees, and try to collect them all.
  • Manage hives and bottling lines to keep up with honey production.
  • Attract customers and take on bigger honey orders as your reputation grows.
  • Expand and decorate the farm, and arrange flower fields that keep blooming even while you are away.

That last bit is the idle part. Your field keeps working when you close the game, and the patch notes mention smoother honey and flower progress after time away. Players tag it Creature Collector, Idler, Cozy, Incremental, Farming Sim and Hand-drawn. No Horror tag, no content descriptors and no AI disclosure on the store page. Brazil rates it L, free for all ages.

The art direction is the whole pitch

The look is soft storybook illustration with real line work: chunky brown bears in denim overalls, warm wood barrels and crates, lavender rows, sunflower walls and tiny lanterns hanging off posts. The palette lives in honey gold, moss green and dusty lilac, never neon or plastic.

The little details are where it gets me. The bears take rest breaks, and you can wake them up to get back to work. Their names are Berlon, Coco, Jr and Pipa, and a recent update added a new Pipa animation plus a tiny beetle called Rupert to spot. There are moths around lit lamps, animated tent covers on the bottling and selling stands, a day and night cycle with its own night music track, and the latest demo patch made the pond animated with a click effect. The studio showed off that new water shader on X this week, and it fits right into the storybook look.

The hand-drawn thing is not just a vibe either. When people on X were talking about low quality AI games flooding the store, the studio replied that its game is about bees and bears, with no AI and all hand-drawn art. I respect saying it out loud.

Bee packs, cards and honey

The collecting is basically a card game inside a farm sim. You crack a pack, the cards flip, and each bee lands as a level card with its own art, honey rate and flowers.

In that screenshot you can read bees like Bumblebee, Blossomir, Terranova, Bloomspirit and Flowerdance, and the Bumblebee card has a flavor line that says it keeps the world blooming and asks for nothing in return. The patch notes add the extra layers: Shiny and Hex honey next to ordinary honey, bottling preferences that change the price, and Shiny bees that sparkle when a pack reveals them. The studio even joked on X that collecting cards in its own game was not enough, so it got hooked on another demo's packs too.

If you like a calmer clicker energy, our Task Bar Hero post shows how big a tiny idle game can get on Steam.

What is in the demo?

The launch post says the demo covers around 30 minutes of gameplay. Since July it has added Decoration Mode, a Photo Mode that saves clean UI free shots straight to Steam, flower field editing, more decorations like mushrooms, plant pots and gnomes, and new languages including Catalan. The newest Steam patch, v1.9.0 from October 20, shares unopened bee packs between hives of the same type, improves tutorial tips and controller snapping, and speeds up busy farms.

The full game adds every bee, flower and honey jar, buffs based on your flower variety, special items for honey production and big honey orders with mixed batches. It runs light too: 4 GB of RAM and 1 GB of storage minimum. Accessibility options cover mouse only and touch only play, no timed inputs, save anytime, color alternatives and full controller support. There are 13 languages, Brazilian Portuguese included. No price is listed yet.

What our clip shows

Three takes from the official Game Trailer on Steam. First, a bear wanders through blue and orange flowers next to a big honey barrel on its stand. Second, the honey stand with a SALE sign while bear customers line up for jars and the field starts to sprout. Third, the farm at full swing, with the market tents, barrels and a crowd of bears shopping. No menus, no logo cards.

Who makes Bottled by Bears?

Steam lists monoii studio as developer and publisher, and the release date post calls this their first game. The studio is based in Barcelona, posts as @MonoiiStudio on X with about 800 followers, and the account has only been around since February. It talks in first person, answers a lot of replies and recommends other small devs' demos. In September it ran a playtest with extended content and said content creators can post about the game with no embargo.

Is the demo worth it?

Yeah, especially if idle games usually feel like spreadsheets to you. Fair warnings: the demo is short, idle loops are not for everyone, and it is Windows and Mac only. The good stuff is everything else: an art direction with real hand-drawn feel, a bee collecting hook that pays off fast and a studio that keeps patching. My verdict: honestly one of the coziest wishlists of the fall. Give it the half hour, then wishlist it for November 11. If you want a cozy farm with a totally different setting, our Tiny Eden writeup is a sweet next stop.

Reckon the calendar does the selling here. Demo out since July, patched all the way to v1.9.0, and a firm November 11 date, so it is a proper wishlist now and buy on the day job, sorted.

Deadass, opening bee packs is the hook and they know it. If the full game keeps the rare pulls coming past the demo's half hour, this is gonna cook a lotta people's free time.

Idle is the most crowded lobby on Steam, so 82 out of 82 demo reviews is lowkey a clutch stat. Fire vibe, zero stress, but I wanna see a farm share or photo mode leaderboard down the line.
