Chomp Garden is live on Steam from solo developer Chao under PawPaw Games. App ID 4457150. Released September 23, 2026. Price sits at $2.99, currently $2.39 (-20%). Windows and macOS. Casual, Indie, Strategy. Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud, Family Sharing. Reviews sit at Positive across 42 ratings as of this writeup (42 positive, 0 negative).

Honestly, the capsule already tells the joke before the trailer starts. Two purple chomp mouths on thick green vines. A tiny yellow seed-bodied lamp stuck in the middle with stubby limbs and black bead eyes. Black field, white title with a sprout in the O. Cute, but the plants look ready to eat the light if you park it wrong.

You bet late September is loud again. Chomp Garden wants a quieter pocket: become a tiny lamp, guide strange plants with light, open paths through a bite-sized garden, and find the pup that wandered ahead.

A lamp, some hungry plants, one lost pup

Store copy keeps the pitch readable. To catch up with your pup, you enter a garden full of strange plants. Chomp Plants grow toward the light. Thief Plants move away from it. Hidey Bushes can hide your light. You are a tiny lamp. Use that light to shape plants, solve puzzles, open the way forward, explore the garden, and find your pup.

I am into how little the page oversells combat chrome. The fantasy is verbs as garden tools. Point the light. Grow a chomp mouth into a bridge. Scare a thief plant off a tile. Tuck the lamp into a bush when the layout gets mean. Secrets sit in corners without a raid calendar yelling at you.

If your Steam pocket already includes the chicklet calm of Rita or the otter rock loop of Otterly Lost, Chomp Garden swaps soft exploration for lamp-and-plant logic. Same discovery shelf. Smaller stages. Even beside the pug mischief of Doggy Don't Care, this one asks you to think with light before you bark.

Tiny lamp, readable room

One still does overtime for the fantasy setup. A round warm seed with two eyes stands inside a garden room of chunky rounded wall blocks. A purple chomp plant on a green stem leans toward its light. White plus-sign paths mark the grid without eating the frame. Flat colors. Black void outside the room. Zero muddy lighting.

Kinda perfect, honestly. The silhouette sells before any tutorial does. You read the lamp, you read the plant, you already know the puzzle is about where the light lands.

Plant hands and garden beds

Another still sells the craft without turning into sticker spam. Two purple three-fingered plant-hands on long green stems reach inward toward a small yellow round lamp creature. A simple rectangular garden bed of rounded blocks frames the scene. A spiky grey star sits just outside the wall like a rude neighbor. Top-down. Clean. Bite-sized.

For sure the plant behaviors matter. Light is the meter. The world answers with readable growth and retreat instead of a combat tax. Clarity matters for a discovery title: the thumbnail has to explain the fantasy in one glance, and Chomp Garden does.

Why this thin Steam window matters

Chomp Garden arrived with a readable solo craft story, opaque JPG stills, a gameplay trailer, and a hook your non-gamer friend gets before the first chomp lean ends. Chao develops under PawPaw Games. Eight achievements sit on the sheet. Single-player. Short puzzle rooms. English. No battle-pass calendar. Just a lamp, a garden of weird plants, and a pup waiting somewhere deeper in.

Pretty solid restraint, honestly. The capsule mouths, the lamp room, and the plant-hand bed each do different visual jobs without fighting for the same joke. Palette stays high-contrast. Subjects stay tactile. That is enough for a wishlist or a short evening buy if you care about feel-first light puzzles.

Heck, the studio X account @lunarDust_ is still posting launch thank-yous and review celebrations in the first days. That live feed matters when a lot of cute Steam pages go silent the morning after launch.

The store page is live now at Chomp Garden on Steam.

Who should light the garden tonight

  • Puzzle fans who want short rooms, plant behaviors, and light as the only tool.
  • Screenshot collectors hunting purple chomp mouths, yellow seed lamps, and black-void garden beds.
  • Discovery players hunting a solo Sep 23 launch that still fits in a lunch break.

Skip it if you need multiplayer lobbies or a 40-hour farm loop. Chomp Garden is a lamp and a hungry plant. The boss is the next tile that refuses to grow.

What the others think

That black void with purple chomp mouths and a yellow seed lamp is doing overtime at card size. Clean silhouette, no muddy lighting, and the plant hands still read as cute without going sticky-sweet.

Proper tidy launch window, that. Sep 23 ship from Chao with Positive reviews and a live studio account is sorted calendar work when louder banners crowd the same week.

Deadass a bite-sized light puzzle that actually goes hard once the chomp plants lean toward the lamp. If the pup payoffs stay this readable, no notes from me.
