Echoes of Mora: Flooded Village Story Game

Echoes of Mora is a 2 to 3 hour Steam story game from Selkies Interactive. Dive a flooded village, unlock time portals, and help Mora find her brother.

Reckon Echoes of Mora is the tidy short story night Steam has been short on lately. A boy goes missing. A village drowns. Somehow you can reach into the days before the flood. You dive the sunken ruins, unlock Echoes (time portals), and share what you find with Mora across time. What you uncover can change her fate, and everyone she loves. It launched on Steam on September 21, 2026 from three person Berlin studio Selkies Interactive. App ID 3129050. Price $14.99. Windows. Single player. Full controller support.

Mate, this is their first game, made over three years with support from medienboard. Proper small team energy, not a vanity page with a trailer and nothing behind it.

What is Echoes of Mora?

It is an atmospheric narrative adventure. First person. No combat. No timers. You explore a flooded village at your own pace with keyboard and mouse or a controller, pick up hidden objects, listen to Traces (lingering memories), and piece together what happened to Mora and her brother. Steam players tag it Story Rich, Mystery, Emotional, Time Travel, Underwater, Walking Simulator, Choices Matter and Multiple Endings.

The loop is simple on purpose:

  • Dive the sunken streets and quiet houses for clues
  • Find scattered fragments that unseal an Echo
  • Step through the portal into the days before the flood
  • Talk to Mora in the past. She is the only one who can see you
  • Point her toward what matters. Your discoveries become her guidance
  • How the story ends is up to you

A separate PC VR build exists for headset households. This writeup is about the flatscreen Steam app.

How long is Echoes of Mora?

About two to three hours for a full pass, per the store and the studio's own launch post. Across the freshest English reviews I pulled, median playtime at review sat around 2.4 hours, which lines up with a self contained evening rather than a weekend binder. Save anytime. Playable without timed input. Playable at your own pace. Sorted for a weeknight.

If you want other short indie evenings with a strong place fantasy, Nightwater stretches an island across ages, and Isle of Reveries leans into adventure exploration. Echoes of Mora is the one that stays underwater and keeps the sibling mystery front and centre.

Time portals under a drowned street

This still is the sales pitch in one glance. Pale hands reach toward a tall violet portal. Tiny white spirit fish swirl around the rim. A copper chain with an egg shaped amulet floats beside it. Kelp frames the dark water. You are not watching a cutscene. You are opening a door into yesterday.

The cursed lake and the missing brother

Later the mystery sits on a pier. A luminous particle figure stands at the edge of a violet lake thick with lily pads. A swirl of energy pulls under the water. Subtitle energy in the trailer names Dario. The store pitch is blunt: after her brother disappears near a cursed violet lake, young Mora sets out to find him. Days later, only the drowned village remains. That is where you begin.

If sunken worlds are your lane, Sunken Realms goes ARPG dungeon crawler instead of quiet narrative. Different tools. Same appetite for places that should stay underwater.

What the trailer shows

Our clip keeps three beats of pure play. First, a violet Echo opening in deep water with a swirl of white spirit particles. Second, a flooded purple shoreline and pier with glowing memory figures. Third, first person hands reaching toward stone busts and a shimmering rift in the ruins. No menus. No logo card.

Is Echoes of Mora worth it?

At $14.99 for a polished two to three hour story with multiple endings, I reckon yes if you like quiet mystery over combat loops. Here is the honest scoreboard as of about 20:15 BRT on October 8. Steam's review score reads Positive. The review API counts 30 positive out of 30 across all languages (including keys), and 23 out of 23 from Steam purchasers. Perfect on a small sample is not a forever stamp, but it is a clean launch window for a debut.

Steam lists 25 achievements, Family Sharing, stereo and surround, custom volume controls, and full controller support. Languages include English with full audio, plus German, Polish, Spanish, Ukrainian, French, Italian, Simplified Chinese, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese and Turkish. Minimum PC ask is Windows 10 64 bit, an i5 8400 or Ryzen 5 2600 class CPU, 16 GB RAM, an RTX 3060 or RX 6600 XT class GPU, DirectX 12 and 10 GB of storage. Content descriptors are empty. No Horror tag. No AI generated content disclosure on the store page.

Who should skip it: anyone hunting co op, combat depth or a twenty hour meta. This is a short, guided story. If you want something that digs harder into dread, THE WELL IS NOT EMPTY is a different spoon entirely.

Studio check and what is next

@SelkiesIA is the official account, about 195 followers. Small team that still replies to players. Launch day September 21 got a tidy OUT NOW post (PC and PC VR links), and on September 23 they cheered a streamer starting the game. Quiet since then on the main timeline, which is honest for a three person debut after ship week rather than a ghost studio. Website: selkiesinteractive.com.

Who should dive in tonight

  • Story rich fans who want a self contained 2 to 3 hour evening with choices that matter
  • Time travel and mystery readers who like guiding someone in the past instead of shooting your way through the present
  • Anyone burned out on padded open worlds who still wants craft, voice acting and a place that sticks

Echoes of Mora is out now on Steam for Windows. Dive the ruins. Open an Echo. Tell Mora what you found. Cheers to a first game that knows when to end.

Lowkey that violet portal with the copper amulet and the swirl of tiny white spirits is doing the whole time travel pitch in one frame. The kelp silhouette reads clean even when you shrink it to a card.

  • Junno

Deadass a short story game that trusts you with endings and a missing brother is wild in a good way. If the Echoes stay quiet instead of turning into fetch quests, this actually goes hard.

Dude a chill 2 to 3 hour dive with no timers is hella my vibe after a loud week. For real, if the past and present loop stays this readable, this is the soft lobby night pick.
