Aniimo Goes Live Free on Steam Today
Aniimo is live free on Steam, PS5, and Xbox. Catch, Twine, Egg Heist PVEVP, and a mobile drop on Sep 23.

Dude, September just dropped another free-to-play creature sandbox into the Steam pile and dared you to clear an evening. Aniimo, Pawprint Studio's open-world catch-and-bond RPG, is live now on Steam, Epic, Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Official posts stamp the global PC and console unlock as September 16, 2026. Steam's storefront shows September 15 for some regions because servers rolled while the Americas were still on the 15th. Either way, Idyll is open, the Aniipod prompt is blinking, and mobile is a week behind on September 23.
This is not a day-one scorecard. English Steam reviews already sit Mixed around 58% across roughly 1,650 takes, which is the honest launch temperature for a free live service that shipped with queues, WIP footage watermarks on store art, and a monetization lane baked into the feature list. The question is whether Twine, Egg Heist, and the RV Homeland loop feel hella sticky after the novelty clip dies.
What Pawprint is actually selling
Official Steam copy is loud and clean. Explore the continent of Idyll. Catch Aniimo with Aniipods, traps, and timing. Twine with a collected creature so you become that Aniimo and use its skills for puzzles, traversal, and fights. Weather, time of day, and phenomena change which creatures show up. Most Aniimo can evolve. There is a sky-floating metropolis, Pathfinder competitions, and a personal RV you park at campsites so other players can roll up on your vibe.
The multiplayer hook that Steam highlights hardest is Egg Heist, a real-time PVEVP mode where a three-player team hits the Lost Isles for searches and fights. Solo adventure is on the page. Online co-op and cross-platform multiplayer are on the page. In-app purchases are also on the page. That is the whole live-service contract in one storefront sentence.
Pawprint Studio is the FunPlus publishing label pitching this as a next-gen creature RPG, not a side experiment. Launch notes claim 30 million global pre-registrations and about 1 million Steam pre-regs. Pre-reg reward tiers include outfits, Aniipod Ultras, Glimmer currency, and a Susuta egg if you signed up on the site. Test data does not carry over. Login queues are expected. Classic day-one live service theater.

Why this still matters on a packed September shelf
Today's Steam aisle is already loud. Halloween: The Game is bullying the paid horror lane. WARDOGS ate concurrent fireworks earlier in the month. Buy-to-play JRPG nights from Another Eden Begins and Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter are asking for clean evenings on the same calendar stamp. Aniimo is the opposite product: zero upfront wallet, cross-play from day one, and a mobile on-ramp a week later so your phone can finish what the PC started.
That free price is the chart weapon. Concurrent boards love free clients. Revenue boards care whether Aniipods, Prismana forms, and shop cosmetics convert after the first flock of cloud creatures. Mixed reviews this early usually mean login friction, catch fairness arguments, and "is Twine actually good" essays. Hold the review score upward through week two and Pawprint bought a season. Stay Mixed while mobile lands and the Discord turns into a refund mood board even though refunds are not the free-to-play story.
Twine, Aniilog, and the boss still that sells the power fantasy
The Steam still that sells the fantasy in one glance is a Pathfinder in a peach jacket and ball cap lifting a fluffy white cloud Aniimo on a sunlit hillside. Dirt path. White puff flowers. More cloud blobs grazing uphill. Switch Aniipod UI in the corner. It reads cozy until you remember Egg Heist is waiting to turn that same bond into a three-stack raid night.
Later stills lean harder. A chrome dragon Aniimo with a star forehead, red eye, and gold filigree crest planted in golden grass. A rainy boss plate where a Twined fighter carves orange energy arcs into a winged monster while party icons sit at levels 20 to 28. Homeland screens show pink dragons napping on manicured lawns next to picnic mats and RV porch lights. Pawprint wants the collection poster, the combat highlight, and the cozy base builder in the same trailer cut.

I am lowkey stoked if Twine stays the identity and not a menu costume. Become the creature. Solve the puzzle. Glide, dive, burrow. That is the sick pitch. If Twine is just a skin swap with a cooldown, mid. If Egg Heist queues feel fair and the Aniilog progression does not gate every cool crest behind a shop banner, fire.
How I would walk into Idyll tonight
Install on Steam if you want the PC screenshot farm and keyboard chat. PS5 or Xbox if the living room pad is the point and you want the same account ready for mobile on the 23rd. Claim pre-reg and test rewards on the official site before you forget. Expect queues. Close background junk. Meet the system requirements honestly; the Steam page still lists a GTX 970 floor and an RTX 3060 recommendation with a 40 GB install.
Do not stack Aniimo on top of a Trails marathon, a Myers lobby, and a midnight WARDOGS session and pretend you are clutch. Leave one clean evening for the first Aniipod streak and one RV park. Watch that hillside still again. Peach jacket. Cloud creature overhead. Blue sky. That is the promise Pawprint is selling for free today.
September 16, 2026 for PC and consoles. September 23 for iOS and Android. Same data. Cross-play on. Choose your Aniimo and see if the bond survives Mixed reviews.
Official details live on aniimo.com, the Steam store page, and Pawprint's launch notes. See you in Idyll if the queue lets you in.

What the others think
RemmyHonestly the Twine fantasy is pretty solid if the catch loop stays fair. You bet I am parking an RV on Idyll before mobile hits next week.
JunnoDeadass another free creature sandbox asking for your evenings. Mixed day-one reviews already. If Egg Heist is just lobby tax, this ain't sticky.
PixxerLowkey obsessed with that chrome star-horn Aniimo in the golden grass still. The little filigree crest and red eye read like a whole collection poster.
