Borderlands 4 Charts Ride Loveless Again

Deadass, Borderlands just bought another week on the Steam money board without shipping a new base game. Borderlands 4 is parked at #10 on the US top sellers chart tonight, right under the usual live-service gravity wells and the same-day free-client chaos of Aniimo. That is not launch week theater. That is a year-old looter shooter getting resuscitated by Loveless the Hacker, Story Pack 2, a free play weekend hangover, and a loud 50% sale that drops the base SKU to $34.99.

English Steam reviews still sit Mixed around 59% across roughly 59,700 takes. Concurrent players are back in the teens of thousands after a September 12 weekend peak north of 27,000. For real, that is wild for a title that spent late summer loafing near a four-thousand average. The question is whether Kairos is sticky again or just thirsty for one neon Vault Hunter.

2. Loveless the Hacker ($9.99). Separate Vault Hunter purchase. Ex-Anshin assassin sharing a mind with a digistruct Wyrm virus pet.
3. Bounty Pack 5: Amara and the Vile Shadows. Repeatable Phase mission, bosses, cosmetics.
4. Free level-cap bump (+10) for everybody, DLC or not.

That bundle is textbook live-service theater dressed as premium DLC. The storefront did not need a new planet pitch. It needed a readable fantasy in the capsule art and a price that makes impulse buyers stop arguing with themselves.

Why the US top sellers still have it at #10

A few mad boring reasons stacked into a revenue spike:

1. Readable IP plus a new face. Borderlands already owns the cel-shaded thumbnail. Loveless adds pale ponytail, gold piercings, cybernetic gauntlets, and a Wyrm silhouette people can meme in one frame.
2. Paid DLC inside a free-weekend funnel. Steam and PlayStation ran a free play weekend through September 14. Xbox leaned on Game Pass. Progress carries if you buy. That is conversion math, not charity.
3. Anniversary-sale pricing. Base game at 50% off ($34.99 from $69.99) while Loveless stays a clean $9.99 impulse. Chart boards reward wallets, not vibes essays.
4. A loud PC week for concurrent fireworks. WARDOGS still owns the top of the money board. Myers still owns horror. Borderlands slid back into the top ten like it remembered how to be rude.

The Mixed review score is the adult tell. Gunfeel praise and performance complaints have been living in the same Steam thread for a year. A DLC surge does not erase that. It just proves the fantasy can still move keys when Gearbox puts a new assassin on the poster.

Loveless, Providence, and the thirst economy

Steam's Loveless page sells the fantasy without apology. Symbiotic assassin. Virus that digistructs into a physical Wyrm. Action skills and trees usable across Kairos. Official stills lean hard into neon green eyes, energy whips, and that jagged drone/Wyrm silhouette against purple Kairos skies. Community clips did the rest. Dexerto and friends clocked the social spike: players were not arguing loot tables first. They were arguing cheekbones and how broken the kit feels day one.

That is not a moral panic. That is how asymmetrical and looter shooters print in 2026. Readable power fantasy first. Balance patch second. If the Wyrm pet stays a highlight reel instead of a menu tax, Loveless buys Gearbox another content season. If she is just a $10 skin with a temporary damage multiplier, the chart cools the second the sale ends.

Story Pack 2 is the quieter half of the same bet. Providence wants vertical jungle combat, Tediore exo-suits that keep shooting after the meat dies, lava world events, and FL4K hunting for Mr. Chew. That is real map work. It is also the part Discord argues about less than the Vault Hunter trailer. Charts follow the loud object. Retention follows the map.

Who is actually buying this spike

Strip the rank and the audience is loud:

• Returning Vault Hunters. People who bounced after launch performance discourse but never uninstalled the library entry.
• Free-weekend converts. Trial loot that survived September 14 and now wants the buy button before the 50% window blinks.
• Loveless mains. The $9.99 crowd who came for the Wyrm kit and will invent a build essay by Thursday.
• Co-op stacks. Four-player Discord groups who treat Providence like a weekend raid costume.
• Chart tourists. You are reading this. Hi. You also clicked Onimusha when Capcom wanted a different kind of violence.

Cross-play co-op and the usual console storefronts still matter. The Steam board is just the loudest scoreboard tonight.

Borderlands 4 did not invent the DLC resurrection. It just put Loveless on the Steam top sellers podium and dared the Mixed review pile to care. Free weekends are easy. Sale stickers are easy. Keeping concurrent numbers honest after the thirst cycle dies is the actual boss fight. For now the US board still has Kairos at #10, English reviews are still Mixed with a messy middle, and the Wyrm is doing more marketing than another lore dump ever could.
