Burg Tag Steam: Online Parkour Tag Game by a Solo Dev
Burg Tag is a $4.99 online parkour tag game on Steam: wall kick, swing and slide through toon maps as a monkey. Made by solo dev Barji. Very Positive.

Burg Tag is an online parkour tag game on Steam, and dude, it is exactly the kind of cheap lobby chaos I live for. You are a goofy monkey in a red headband, the lobby splits into hiders and seekers, and everybody gets the same movement kit: wall kicks, monkey bars, slides, rolls and a sprint. Get tagged and you flip sides. That is the whole pitch, and for real, it is enough.
It is made by Barji, a solo developer who also runs a YouTube devlog channel his X bio puts at 200K subscribers. Burg Tag launched on October 22, 2026, App ID 4297360, for US$4.99. As of about 11:30 BRT on November 3, the store shows 88% of 75 user reviews as positive, which Steam rates Very Positive.

Same moves for hiders and seekers
Here is the design call that makes the lobby work. The store says both roles get access to the same movement set, and certain powerups unlock new ways to get around. So nobody is stuck as the slow kid. If you are hiding, every round is a choice: trust your hiding spot or stay on the move and slide, wall kick, swing and roll out of trouble when a seeker closes in. If you are seeking, the page literally says being It should not be boring.
In the main Tag mode, every hider you catch joins your team, so the hunt snowballs. Two seekers become four, four become eight, and suddenly the last hider is getting cornered by half the lobby. The store pushes you to work together to cut off a runner instead of just chasing in a straight line, and that is where the clutch moments live. The trailer also shows a Freeze Tag mode in the patchwork playground map, which is lowkey my favorite of the bunch from what I have seen.

The maps and the vibe
The maps are hella colorful. The screenshots show an icy blue island with orange bounce pads stuck to the cliffs, a jungle ruin with mossy castle walls and pine trees, a container ship stacked with red and blue boxes out on open sea, and an indoor playground that looks like a giant patchwork of pink, orange, green and blue blocks with trampolines and nets. There is even a huge pink pig head floating in that playground, which I respect for real.
Everything runs in a soft toon style with chunky outlines. Barji told a fan on X that the toon shader is a spatial shader but the outline is screen space, which is a sick little peek under the hood. The first person view shows your own big monkey hands swinging in front of the camera, and as of a November 2 update you can switch to third person and do a chicken dance on your opponents. Tagging someone and then dancing on them is peak lobby behavior, and I am stoked it is official now.

No friends online? Run a time trial
The short description says it straight: no friends? Run a time trial. You can drop into any map solo and race to collect 10 bananas as fast as possible. Barji writes on the store page that time trials were originally an afterthought and turned into one of the most addicting modes in the game. That tracks. A banana route on a map you already know from chases is basically a speedrun practice room, and it makes the next real lobby feel way more fire because you know every wall kick line.
If you are into movement first games, check our take on Uppercute, a Neon White style 3D platformer, and for more friends lobby chaos there is Trash Day, a raccoon co-op physics game for up to six players.
What our clip shows
Three takes from the official Burg Tag Trailer, with its own audio. First, a first person sprint down a forest trail, across water and onto a ship. Second, the Tag mode on the container ship, with a chase along the deck and a monkey bolting past the stacked containers. Third, Freeze Tag inside the patchwork playground, bouncing between pink and orange blocks. No logo cards, just play.
Price, platforms and what to know
Burg Tag costs US$4.99 with no discount running when I checked. It runs on Windows and Linux, with no Mac build listed, and the specs are light: an Intel Core i5 4590 or Ryzen 3 1200, 8 GB of RAM, a GTX 1050 or RX 460 and about 1 GB of storage. It needs a broadband connection for online play. Steam lists Single player, Online PvP, Family Sharing, color alternatives, camera comfort, adjustable difficulty and custom volume controls. The interface and audio are English only. Cosmetics are part of the loop too: the trailer brags about billions of unique hats, and players earn boxes to open.

Who makes Burg Tag?
Barji is the developer and publisher on Steam. He posted that the game passed 10,000 wishlists before launch, put out a devlog video called I Made My DREAM Tag Game when it shipped, and said on November 1 that he had already beaten his financial goal for the game with reviews better than he expected. Since launch he has pushed a new map, a new game mode, new cosmetics and a pile of fixes, and he replies to players on X one by one, including shader questions from other devs. That is a solo dev who is clearly in it for the long run.
Is Burg Tag worth it?
For five bucks, dude, yes. The one real risk with any online tag game is lobby size, so the move is to jump in now while the community is active and the updates keep landing, and bring a couple of friends if you can. If the chase clicks, the time trials will keep you busy between lobbies. Lowkey one of the best value party games on Steam right now.

What the others think
PixxerHonestly the toon outline is carrying the whole look. Chunky monkeys with googly eyes and red headbands, saturated playground blocks, and you can read a chase at a glance even when the camera is flying sideways off a container ship.
JunnoOkay, five bucks for a solo dev tag game that gets patched every few days actually goes hard. Real talk though, if the lobbies dry up it is cooked, so jump in while the crowd is here.
NyxeReckon the launch was properly sorted: 10,000 wishlists before release, a devlog to go with it, and a new map plus a new mode inside ten days. Not loud, just tidy.
