Right, the Reshine demo is the most quietly satisfying thing I have poked at all week. Reshine is a cozy restoration sim from Quite OK Games, the Polish studio behind Laysara: Summit Kingdom, and it asks you to do one thing properly: take an old object apart, clean off the years, repaint it and put it back together. The free demo landed on Steam on October 19, 2026, and the full game has a release date of November 26, 2026. App ID 4253570.
It is going down well, mate. As of about 18:58 BRT on October 25, the demo page shows 97% of 304 user reviews as positive, rated Very Positive. The full game has no reviews yet, which is fair, it is not out.

What is Reshine?
The store page sells it plainly: gently restore old objects by cleaning away layers of dust, rust and time. You sit in your own attic, rain on the window, surrounded by relics, and work at your own pace. Here is the loop as the store lays it out:
- Take it apart: strip each object down piece by piece and work out how everything fits together.
- Restore the parts: clean away dust, sand down rough edges and gently remove rust with a range of tools.
- Repaint: pick colors that feel right to you and repaint each surface until it looks new.
- Rebuild and compare: put it all back together, then compare the result with the object before restoration. You can redo any object to try other colors.
The pitch is very clear about what it is not. "No management, no pressure," says the short description, and the team has repeated "No shop management. No skill trees." in its demo announcement. Simple controls, minimal UI, nothing to get wrong. Players tag it Cleaning, Relaxing, Cozy, Retro, Wholesome, Physics and Short, and there is no AI disclosure on either store page.
Grinding off the grime
This is where it gets properly tactile. Rust is not a brown smudge here; it is flaky orange and green crust over old paint, and you work it off patch by patch while a progress bar fills along the bottom of the screen.

The patch notes give you a decent peek at the toolbox. They mention a laser, a UV light, fasteners and screws to undo, and an electrolysis minigame, which the team now lets you skip in settings if it is not your cup of tea. Reshine is built around sanding, scrubbing and spraying rather than menus, and I reckon that is exactly why it works.
If tidying things up is your idea of a good evening, our Wand & Order writeup is a sorted next stop.
The before and after payoff
Every restoration ends with a comparison, and it is a brilliant bit of design. A slider splits the screen in two, the wreck on one side and your finished piece on the other.

Reshine (Steam). Hover for a Voidge draft sketch inspired by a fragment of the rotary phone screenshot.
That rotary phone is no random pick, either. After the June playtest, Quite OK Games said the Rotary Phone was the clear favorite item with 77.3% of votes, ahead of a Fox shaped Cleaver and a Toy Elephant. The same post said players loved the information pieces attached to each antique, and the cat companion, and that the top request was more paint freedom, so the team reworked painting with a cleaner UI and a wider range of colors.
What is in the demo?
According to the studio, the demo has 3 items to restore, all different from the ones in the earlier playtest, and represents the quality and direction of the final game. The team called it its Next Fest demo in the October 20 patch notes. Two patches have already landed:
- October 20: fixed screws turning the wrong way, added a setting to skip the electrolysis minigame, a laser rotation fix, an option to switch off gamepad vibration, and Traditional Chinese.
- October 22: paint no longer resets when you click a fully painted part, plus a new accessibility setting for reduced laser flickering.
On Steam the demo supports achievements and Steam Cloud. The full game lists full controller support and 13 languages, Brazilian Portuguese included. It is Windows only on Steam, and the minimum spec is Windows 10 64 bit, a quad core CPU, 4 GB RAM and a dedicated DirectX 12 card. The team said in a July FAQ that the playtest build was fully playable on Steam Deck. The store does not show a price yet.
What our clip shows
Three takes from the official Release Date Trailer on Steam. First, a brass lamp on a patterned rug, a red metal part getting sprayed, a rusty cleaver blade cleaned back to bright steel and a glass part on a cutting mat. Second, a copper dish being polished and a rusty film reel scrubbed until clean grey metal shows through. Third, a white lantern sprayed teal and a cream piece painted deep red, ending on a restored yellow box. No menus, no logo cards.
Who makes Reshine?
Steam lists Quite OK Games as developer and publisher. In the announcement post, the team said Reshine is its second game after Laysara: Summit Kingdom, a mountain city builder, and that after years on it they needed something fresh and relaxing. On X, @QuiteOKGames has about 1,435 followers and describes itself as a small indie team; one August post calls it "Just 3 guys doing their thing." The team says it passed 100,000 Steam wishlists in under four months, and its October 19 post says Reshine launches November 26 on Steam, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Xbox. The music is by composer Kounine, per the studio.
Is the demo worth it?
Yes, if you want something to switch your brain off for twenty minutes without it feeling empty. Fair warnings: it is deliberately small, there is no economy or progression to chase, and it is Windows only on Steam for now. The good bits are the rest: grime that looks properly grim, tools that feel chunky, and a before and after reveal that never gets old. My verdict: wishlist it and grab the demo, it is the gentlest win on Steam right now. For another cozy demo with a November date, our Bottled by Bears post is a sweet one.

What the others think
JunnoDeadass, the before and after slider is the whole game in one button. If the full release keeps the antiques this varied, this one goes hard for a sim with zero fail state.
PixxerHonestly the lighting carries it: warm attic lamps, rain on the window, and chipped green paint peeking out under orange rust instead of plain brown. The shine at the end only lands because the grime looks that good first.
VoltzNo co-op, no leaderboard, and honestly that is the play: my cooldown queue between ranked lobbies. Lock in a phone, scrub, repaint, GG.
